Ramon crater- first International Dark Sky Park in the Mideast
Looking up at the night sky anywhere in the vast Makhtesh Ramon (Ramon crater), you get an unbelievable display of the thousands of stars, galaxies, clusters and even meteors. Locals have known this for years, but now the International Dark Sky association has officially recognized the pristine dark night sky of the Ramon crater and has awarded us with this important international accreditation.
