Orlyya Farm is located In the center of Ramat Negev, 5 kilometers south of the Midreshet Sde Boker, in the breathtaking, desert mountain landscape.
The farm is named after Orlyya, one of the priestesses of Aphrodite, goddess of love, who is buried in the Ancient City of Avdat (about 5 km from the farm) and represents feminine power and wisdom.
Avdat, one of the Nabatean towns of the Negev, was established for trade of goods and perfumes (frankincense and myrrh) which were transferred from Yemen to the ports of Gaza through the ancient Spice Route.
Thanks to a dry climate and comfortable weather, it is pleasant to spend summer evenings under the starry sky and feel the desert wind blow. In winter it is recommended to indulge in curling up together in the heated huts and enjoy herbal tea.
Our farm is all about man's connection to nature and the earth and our tranquil, isolated desert environment gives one a unique experience.
While building the farm, we put great emphasis on environmental protection and minimal damage to the earth. We considered the air flow and solar radiation in order to benefit natural heating in winter and cool summers. We used local materials to build huts, giving attention to the terrain and desert landscape.
