About Negev Highlands Tourism: The World’s Friendliest Desert

Negev Highlands Tourism brings together hundreds of tourist sites, attractions, catering and accommodation providers, operating throughout Israel’s Negev Highlands - the most friendly and accessible desert in the world.

In the midst of the Land of Craters and the Arava desert, on the brim of the majestic Ramon Crater cliffs, is the capital of Israel’s desert tourism – the town of Mitzpe Ramon surrounded by vast stretches of biblical landscape. The Negev Highlands Tourism spreads out from the new Visitors Center being built in the area of Neot Hovav Industrial Council, right down to the biblical Faran desert vistas, unfolding south of the Ramon Crater.

Over the last two decades, tourism services in the desert have greatly expanded and today our region offers more than a thousand types of various accommodation, dozens of tourist attractions and sites adapted to a diversity of visitors, and of course, an array of restaurants, cafes and catering services.

The ‘friendly desert’ is a general concept which has many different facets:

  • Our desert is accessible and easy to get to for both Israelis and foreign tourists.
  • Our desert is safe, secure, and convenient for travel as it is rich in well-marked trails.
  • The Israeli desert has relatively widespread wireless and cellular coverage.
  • There are skilled rescue units available at all times, capable of reaching any point and taking care of any kind of emergency event.
  • The local residents are hospitable and happy to share their experiences of how it is to live amidst of our ancient landscape.

Negev Highlands Tourism engages in a number of regional tasks:

  • Advertising and marketing of the Negev Highlands in Israel and overseas.
  • Advertising regional tourist activities.
  • Providing accessible information for tourists from Israel and abroad, through print and digital media.
  • Exposing the area to local and international journalists.
  • Closely accompanying entrepreneurs in the area through a ‘tourism incubator’, encouraging the creation of partnerships between various businesses.
  • Preparation of training courses for tour operators on various topics each year.
  • Promotion and improvement of tourist infrastructure in the area.
  • Submission of applications for raising funds for the purposes of support and realization of new projects in the region.
  • Developing and escorting tours of the area for public opinion leaders.

We invite you to browse our website and enjoy a wide range of tourist services at your disposal throughout the Negev Highlands.
